Waiting for paint to dry...

Started another canvas last night. I'm making it for Jackie using some of the pics I took of Leif when we were up in Edmonton. I can't get the right background color yet so I just keep adding more washes and glazes...eventually it'll look right. lol Anyhoo since I'm waiting for the paint to dry I figured it was a good time to make a new post.

Not alot happening around here lately. Brad is still not working which is stressing me out, but he's been a great help around the house so it's been kinda nice having him home.

Yesterday Mercedes burnt her hand on the fireplace at Sonda's house. I guess she tripped on something and when she reached out to break her fall she put her hand right on the glass. About 1/3 of the palm of her hand was burnt. When I went to pick her up she was just crying and she started screaming about how bad it hurt all the way home. Sonda was over at mom's so I took Mercedes there so we could borrow some burn stuff from my mom. You can tell that Sonda has six kids...she just looked at Mercedes hand, got her a bowl of cold water and told her to put her hand in there. That at least helped stop the screaming. It was really red but didn't appear to be blistered, although there might have been a small blister on the side of her hand. Anyways we came home and she just kept her hand in cold water for about 4 hours...she would not take it out. I managed to prop her on the pillows in my bed so that she could lay down but still have her hand in the water...luckily I was thinking so I put a couple towels down cause she did start to fall asleep and dump the bowl of water. By this time it was after midnight and she just started screaming that it hurt so bad. I tried to put burn relief on it but she just screamed that it hurt too. She screamed for about 45 minutes and I felt so awful that I couldn't help her. Finally I told Brad that maybe I should take her to the hospital cause she seemed to be in so much pain and I was completely helpless to make her feel better. Brad went in to talk to her and she finally settled down and let me put the burn relief on again. We'd also given her some Tylenol so around 1:30ish she finally started to feel better. Today she was fine.

Other than that not much has been going on. It's been snowing steady for the last couple days and been really cold all week, so we haven't really gone out unless we had too. Today was a totally lazy day and we just watched a bunch of dvd's...we really enjoy all our tv show dvd's...today we watched Desperate Housewives for about 4 hours and then Dead Like Me for a couple hours...total couch potatoes! lol well my paint should be dry by now so I'm off to work on my canvas...just feeling the need to be creative. :)
